“Mainstream Art, can be defined as the application or expression human creative ability and imagination, usually in the form of visual art, such as: paintings or sculpture; creating pieces that are valued primarily for their aesthetic appeal or emotional impact.”

Many would define art as a means of self-expression and a spoken substitute for communication, as well as a means of self discovery. Another example of art is something that uses visual representation to sell a specific story. In addition to what has already been mentioned, people use words as a form of expression and a form of communication, giving the sense that even though people may not know the mainstream definition of art, they are conscious of what it means as well as the meaning behind it.

Art to me is more than just a sculpture or a painting on a wall! Art is a form of expression, which allows the artist to express a story to others through their work, which can take many forms other than paintings and sculptures namely: landscapes; graffiti; and mosaic art. Art is not merely only a form of expression but can be a platform for educating the youth and can be used as a tool for empowerment.

And that is what art means to me.
