Hundreds of people took to beaches across the Western Cape on the 30 January 2021 11am, in defiance of adjusted level 3 Covid-19 regulations.

The beach ban was introduced under strict level three lockdown regulations..
These people were protesting against the closure of beaches in Cape Town. Demonstrators were seen taking to the water and sitting on the beachfront, with some holding placards with phrases including ‘give our freedom back’, ‘lift the lockdown’ and ‘open our beaches’.

The extended invitation was sent on all social media platforms, encouraging everyone from surfers to business owner’s and vendors to take a stand against the current lockdown regulations.
